Cat Mountain Refuge was born out of necessity.

Too often certain cats fall under the undesirable list and cannot and will not be adopted out.

Too often a guardian will pass away without having made arrangements for their furry family.

Too often a piece of property where free roaming cats, feral or otherwise, have been residing peacefully, beneficially, and harmlessly will be sold or developed and these wonderful kids will be deemed pests and trapped and killed or poisoned.

Too often shelters will overfill and they implement the OUTDATED kill to make room mentality and murder millions of animals a year.

Too often a cat no longer fits someone's life style and they break the lifetime commitment they should have made and send "Fluffy" into the no win situation of the countries shelters.

Too often a wonderful, friendly, loving being is ripped from the safety of it's home, put into the shelter cage, surrounded by barking dogs, cold heartless environment, acts scared, or "not as friendly" as the shelter workers would like and they KILL them, having never given them a chance.

Too often discriminating tests are performed on cats, such as FIV/FELV testing, and they are killed when turning up positive. ***please see our did you know section for more information about FIV/FELV***

Too often murder is the answer.

The refuge was born out of necessity.

EUTHANASIA IS NEVER A HUMANE ANSWER, IT IS ONLY A HUMAN CONVENIENCE
